Never tried a home swap ?
You are always in control in a home swap community. Swaps are requested, not booked. The home owner can decline requests, and there is no obligation to swap. Who are digital nomads ?
Since Covid, there are now 35million digital nomads in the world, predicted to reach 60million by the end of the decade.
The term ‘digital nomads’ is misleading. Did you know that these are aged between 25 and 45 years ? They travel for 6 years on average, and work in ‘knowledge economy’ work such as IT, ecommerce and marketing.
58 countries, including Spain, offer a digital nomad visa to attract these high earners in, to work and live temporarily.
Affordable and Sustainable Accommodation without Impacting Local Property Prices
Sustainability is so important in travel these days. Home swapping is the best way of travelling sustainably. Our members stay in homes that would otherwise be empty when their owners travel. We do not feed into demand for tourist specific accommodation. For both these reasons, local property and local property prices are not affected when you home swap.
Barcelona became the first city in Europe to introduce regulations for short term private rentals, recently followed by New York. Accommodation providers where landlords could profit, such as AirBnB, can have a negative effect on cities, driving locals out.
No money is exchanged in a home swap, so no-one profits. This keeps landlords out, and keeps our community one for like-minded people who just want to travel without paying for accommodation.
About
We are an Irish / Spanish company who launched in June 2023. Co-founder Sandra, from Reus, came up with the idea for Swapoffi as she wanted to work and travel as a lifestyle, but the cost of accommodation stopped that. She tried a traditional home exchange, but they are set up for families who value bedrooms. Sandra thought, who will swap with me ? I have converted one of my two bedrooms into a home office and that won’t suit families. There are lots of solos and couples like me with specific needs. I love travelling but I also want a proper workspace to do my work. Read more about our story here.
