Hondón de las Nieves

Named after its famous patron saint Hondón de las Nieves (Valley of the Snows) is a traditional Spanish agricultural town that sits in-amongst the vines between mountains made of marble. History and tradition are prominent in this picturesque country town.

Being just 20 minutes from its nearest city Elche, and only 30 minutes from Alicante Hondón de las Nieves is a popular choice amongst expats for its wide range of properties and the relaxed and sedate way of life that seems unchanged in decades.

Whether walking the beautiful paths that surround Hondón is your thing, or just taking in the view from a bar – or even your own terrace – Hondón is a place to be enjoyed. Historical fiestas are dotted throughout the calendar year and (even better) locals welcome the foreigners to celebrate with them! An evening spent wandering from street café to bar, and back, is a must in this pretty town and all amenities (including English supermarkets and bars) are a short walk in this small valley town.

In town, or in the countryside, there is an abundance of properties in Hondón that range from the new and shiny to the reformed country house. Prices are cheaper (generally) inland too and the mild climate has made living in the ‘campo’ the perfect location for many expats wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy life. Public transport is reliable and frequent and the popular weekly market attracts traders (and goods of course) of all shapes and sizes.
