Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

THREE major events take place over the next few days to commemorate the Royal British Legion’s 2012 Poppy Appeal. Tonight, Thursday November 8, there is a special concert taking place in Torrevieja’s Municipal Theatre. This ‘one-off’ spectacular will commence at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at only €3.00. Tonights show features the exceptional talents of Footwork Dance Academy, who delighted audiences with their show stopping performance during June’s Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The show also features performances by three other artists who performed on the same day, “Phoenix Concert Band, directed by Ian Vine plus the exceptional vocal stylings of Maria O’Hara and Nick Gold. The parade of the standards will be appropriately accompanied by “Torrevieja Pipes and Drums”.

Tickets, priced at €3.00 for this unique event are currently available from the municipal ticket office, which is open Tuesday to Friday inclusive from 11.00am until 1.00pm or ‘on the door’ from two hours before the curtain rises.

Saturday November 10 and NOT Sunday, is when the Remembrance Day Service is being held. The venue is the La Siesta Church with the service starting at 10.30am on Saturday. Everyone is invited to attend and additional seating and an external audio system, will be set up outside the church.

On Wednesday 14 November, a very special one-time show will be onstage at the Municipal Theatre. Performed in English, the Footlights Theatre Group from Calpe will make the journey south to perform their acclaimed version of the Frank Loesser musical ‘Guys and Dolls’. Featuring such well known songs as “A Bushel and a Peck”, “Luck Be a Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat”, the show offers one of the few opportunities to enjoy a classic English Language musical in Torrevieja. Tickets are priced at €12.00 and proceeds from the show go towards the RBL Poppy Appeal. Doors open at 7.30pm with curtain up at 8.00pm Tickets are available from the municipal ticket office via www.servicam.com or, space permitting, available from the ticket office as from two hours before the show starts.
