Liverpool Author Awarded Top 100 Books Status

All I Ask is a Tall Ship, a 102-page chronicle of life as a Liverpool sailor, has been nominated as ‘One of the Best Books of 2014 by Amazon Books. The award is presented only to new titles having best-seller potential. The key to success was the book’s imaginative compilation of illustrated first-class poetry.

Authored by Liverpool author and journalist Mike Walsh, All I Ask is a Tall Ship, reflects life as a Liverpool sailor through Beatles era Liverpool. Encouraged to write by his father Paddy, associate and friend of war correspondent Ernest Hemingway and Irish playwright Sean O’Casey, Michael has earlier taken Liverpool by storm with poetry collections.

In 1999, Michael’s 3,000 print-run of A Sea Veneer of Liverpool and Believin’ of Liverpool, sold out in weeks. His mother, Kathleen, a friend of Spanish revolutionary ‘La Pasionaria’, honed his gifts as a poet. As a 16-year old Cunard Yank, who was to change his company flag more often than his shirt, Michael befriended many Mersey Sound music legends. It has been said that no one is better qualified to reflect life in Liverpool as a sailor and ambassador of an era that placed the Maritime City on the worldwide map.

All I Ask is a Tall Ship is Michael’s seventh of nine poetry anthologies. He has a worldwide fan base and is a ghost-writer and journalist by profession.
