For many year the province and especially the city of Granada have been popular destinations for tourists. A significant development over the past two decades are the number of people who are buying there. Let us be clear, there are three very different markets which I will describe here.

1) The City of Granada.

Little needs to be said about the important city. It has a huge student population, important industry and, of course, its magnificent heritage. It gets VERY cold in winter and VERY hot in summer. Many would exclude the city for the climate but for others this is not a consideration.

2) The Coast.

It is often forgotten that Granada has a coastline. It is usually called the Costa Tropical but sometimes the Costa de Granada or Costa Granadina. With the exception of the fertile plain of Motril, there is little urban spill. This contrast greatly to the Costa del Sol to its east. So, yes, this is a quieter area but equally it is normally considered to be cheaper. The main towns are Motril and Almuñécar which includes the much-loved area of La Herradura, a prestigious area around a gorgeous bay.

The temperatures are “kinder” than the capital’s and there are easy connections to Malaga and its airport. Granada and Almeria also have airports.

3) The Countryside.

Granada is a big province and the countryside is very varied. If you are thinking of living here, you probably have an idea of what you are looking for. Big plains, steep mountainsides, excellent farming land. Few cities, more small towns but mainly villages. If you want to lose yourself, it will be easy. If you want to become an integral part of the community, you will need to learn Spanish. This is not a cosmopolitan area. This is not its charm. Obviously, a large part of inland Granada is the Sierra Nevada, a Mecca for ski fans. Ski in the morning and swim in the Med in the afternoon. Some people’s dream!

Granada, La Hoz (Iznajar)

The spacious terrace area has an outside dining area and BBQ with easy access to the swimming pool. There are a number of other covered terraces .

The swimming pool and hot tub are located in the gardenstown at the far end.

The property has its own well and is very private and not over looked.

La Hoz, Iznajar

The delightful hamlet of La Hoz, is perfectly situated between Iznajar and Rute where all amenities can be found. The area is popular for walks, particularly in \spring to the waterfall where the ‘Rio La Hoz’ runs to. The landscape is trully magnificent all year.

Iznajar is ideally situated inland, known as the ‘Crossroads of Andalucia’, it lies just one hour from Malaga, Granada and Cordoba. It is set in the beautiful rolling hills and olive groves of the Subbetica Natural Park. This friendly village is located on the beautiful 32km Lake, the largest in Andalucia, and can boast its own beach
