We are offering Casa Pilar fully furnished with all furniture and fittings. The property was extensively refurbished in all respects in 2007 and is fully licensed as an alojamiento rural. You have the option of running it as a guest house OR simply enjoying a large family house.

The property is located in the old town of Illora, 2 minutes from the 16th century church and directly below the 9th century castle. It comprises 6 bedrooms, 4 of which are fully en-suite (2 bedrooms share one bathroom ), large ground floor lounge/dining room, small upper lounge, study, 2 kitchens (one in the ground floor lounge, which is very well equipped and another on the terraces), 2 utility rooms, 4 terrace areas all interlinked leading up to the rock and giving wonderful views across the town and countryside, including the Sierra Parapanda. Illora sits half an hour from Granada, one hour each from the Sierra Nevada and the Costa Tropical and 2 hours’ drive from Córdoba. There is a full description on the web site

There are further changes we have made recently and are not shown on those photos – such as the internal staircase which was fully re-built. We also had the property, which is made up of 2 adjoining houses as well as the large terrace behind, entirely re-wired to hotel standard. All in all, it is in very good condition.

One of the aspects that drew us to the Granada area is the year round business – the Alhambra is, of course, one of Spain’s most visited attractions and, along with Albaicin, one of the main summer features. In spring and autumn, local weddings are a good source of business and the potential for local business has just increased as the Junta de Andalucía has started the complete renovation of the 9th century Moorish castle, which sits on top of the rock in the centre of Illora. Our terraces lead up to this castle. Casa Pilar Alto, when we ran it as a guest house, was (and still would be) the only accommodation of hotel standard in Illora, a town with a population of some 10,000.
