Introduction
There are times when we all feel the need to make better sense of what is going on in our lives. Perhaps we believe that we’ve already dealt with the problems and traumas of the past, yet still find it difficult to forgive, to leave the past behind and move forward. Or maybe we are simply convinced that there are more dimensions to life than we can see right now, but we’re not sure where to look for more insight and guidance…
It’s time to find our own Soul Cave!
This is where we discover everything we need to make sense of our past and to look forward to a future where we create our reality rather than settling for whatever life throws at us.
Once upon a time, I had a room for psychic readings and spiritual healing that I called Sandra’s Soul Cave, and this now lives on as a spiritual concept, the sacred space where I receive comfort, guidance and clarity on a regular basis. It’s my own special haven where I access the wisdom of my higher self and call on the help and support of angels, spirit guides and ascended masters. Wherever I am, there is the Soul Cave, and when I work with clients I do my best to help them access their own sacred spaces and find the answers they need to guide them through the challenges and lessons of life.
I’ve found that many people can identify with this concept and I hope you will also be able to, finding something in these pages that resonates with you and inspires you to explore further. You don’t need to believe in anything in particular to access your own Soul Cave, other than yourself.
Connecting with your Soul Cave means going deep within that self and uncovering layers of experience and understanding that may have lain hidden and undiscovered for many years, perhaps many lifetimes. It’s a journey of adventure, rather like exploring real caves, but now it’s the soul and its wisdom we’re seeking. Our personal journeys are internal and spiritual, rather than external and physical, but they’re just as demanding because during them we are all tested in so many ways.
Caves can be dark, complex and difficult to navigate, and although I intend this book to be healing and uplifting, as every spiritual book should be, there are inevitably some unsettling episodes to be described. There are some passages that are difficult to read, just as they have been difficult to write. However, there are always hidden treasures waiting for us to access them, and even the dark times can help to bring about illumination for the soul. And I hope to show that it is never too late for us to step into our power and embrace our destiny, as I did in mid-life after many years of uncertainty. Moreover, I will show that we are never given greater challenges than we are able to deal with – we can work through the most difficult times and emerge stronger, with a renewed purpose and zest for life.
So come along with me to explore the Soul Cave.

Sandra Francis has made a habit of being a late starter in the things that really matter. She moved to Algorfa on Spain’s Costa Blanca for health reasons at the age of 55. The proximity to the salt lakes, the climate and the healthy Mediterranean Diet helped her manage her chronic autoimmune condition and become more mobile, healthier and happier than she had been for many years. And in Spain in her mid-50s, she finally began to write for a living, after telling her parents and teachers at the age of 15 that she wanted a career as a writer. However, they told her she needed a ‘proper job,’ then life got in the way, and it wasn’t until she realised how much misinformation there was about life in Spain that she realised now was the time to resurrect her teenage dream and start researching and writing the truth about life in Spain for immigrants. (She refuses to use the term ‘expats’ in writing or conversation!)
In Spain she also began her spiritual journey at the age of 64, when she turned to meditation to help face the challenges of nursing her husband through his final illness. Through meditation and further exploration and experimentation, she found out she could talk to dead people, read the Tarot, talk to angels and channel healing, thus becoming an accidental psychic and healer. She now works from her home in Algorfa, offering private Angel Card readings, chakra clearing and spiritual counselling, as well as attending local events offering short readings and advice on spiritual living.
Sandra hasn’t left her writing behind though. She’s continued to write about life in Spain, although she now keeps it local and showcases her home town and the surrounding area on her website Around Algorfa. She’s also edited several publications for authors in other parts of Spain, and is always open to writing and editing commissions. She has no intention of either slowing down or growing old gracefully!
Sandra also runs a spiritual website, Sandra’s Soul Cave, and at the age of ‘only’ 70 years and 11 months, she’s just published her first book, The Soul Cave: It’s Never Too Late to Find Your Power. Part biography, part spiritual primer and part self-help manual, it’s a searingly honest account of how spirituality helped Sandra come through the trauma of seeing her dog killed in front of her with a knife that was meant for her. With the help of forgiveness, for herself and others, and gratitude for the lessons she learned through her challenges, Sandra was able to move forward and leave the past behind and enjoy life again. She’s now happier than ever hoped to be again, and is working on her second book. She may be a late starting author, but now she’s got going, there’s no stopping her. We haven’t heard the last of Sandra Francis!
