Sant Blai, Mallorca is a family-owned country retreat at Sant Blai which provides you with a tranquil oasis away from the madding crowd. Just 2km from Campos town, but enjoying total privacy and all modern comforts in authentic rustic cottages and suites. With large landscaped gardens within 25,000m2 of typical mallorquin farmland.

It can also be used as an ideal business base as it has a large communal lounge area that can double as a training/ meeting room, allowing guests to use the hotel as an idyllic retreat to base complete management teams for a week or more and complete intensive training courses. There are also added incentives of local diversions such as: horse riding; golf; the white sandy beaches at Es Trenc; mountain biking; mallorquin cuisine; or just relaxing by the pool; reading in the watermill library or observing the stars from our garden observatory under the clear night skies.

The owners are personally known to me through Ecademy which is a social and business networking site that I would recommend to anybody interested in Spain.

Another hotel I have stayed in recently and I thought offered excellent value-for-money is the Hostal Marbella in Fuengirola, Málaga (Costa del Sol) It is very centrally located on Calle Marbella – a quiet pedestrian street which leads from the main square. The word “hostal” in Spanish does not mean the same as “hostel” in English and their are no bunk-beds, curfews or dormitories here!! It is spotlessly clean with friendly, efficient staff and has everything a traveller might want – FREE wifi, breakfast room, A/C and TV. Although Hostal Marbella is only 100 meters from the beach the prices are probably 50% less than a sea-view ….and it’s much quieter! It would be an excellent base, I think, for the elder traveller who feels happier being surrounded by staff who speak fluent English and for those who do not think practising their Spanish is part of their holiday.
