This is Spain

In 1998 the San Javier International Jazz Festival was born as a result of the efforts of Alberto Nieto and a group of jazz fans, with the aid of the San Javier Town Hall through its Cultural Department. In less than a decade this festival has matured into one of the most important cultural events of the Murcia Region of southern Spain, with a great national and international resonance.

Staged during the summer from the end of June to the end of July, the festival programming focuses on the work of major figures from the world of jazz, latin & blues, celebrating many different styles of music. The festival is held inside the beautiful open air auditorium in the municipal park Almansa which has a capacity for 2,200 people, offering good visibility, since its spatial structure is similar to a Roman amphitheatre.

Tony Poole is the official English Media Consultant & Liaison for the San Javier International Jazz Festival. He can be reached through the festival’s web site.
