The River Hostel

The River Hostel

This is a very interesting hostel and will break your ideas of what a “hostel” is. To start with it’s in a magnificent listed, historical building and if you are anything like me you will wonder great business or affairs of state have been conducted here.

It is a large hostel with 170 beds which makes it perfect for groups and designed for comfort and security. It was opened in 2013 and already has become established as one of the most respected and highly rated hostels in the city. See many excellent Trip Advisor ratings.

What separates this hostel from many others is the range of accommodation that is available. There are traditional large rooms with many bunk beds but The River also has an entire floor with private rooms only. That floor is always very quite,

The bunk beds are very big. They are 100×200 cm and tailor made for this hostel. They have individual reading lamps for privacy and as a consideration to other guests. Each bed has its own individual locker too. Safety and security is paramount here. All rooms are exterior, with a lot of light and very big windows. All have air conditioning. Knowing that many guests are travelling for several weeks, there are full laundry facilities available too at realistic prices. Wifi is available throughout the hostel and not just in the common areas

Downstairs the reception is open 24/7. The hostel rents bikes for the best price in town – just 6 euros per day. They book and organise activities like free walking tour and pub crawls and flamenco nights. There is free luggage storage too. All the staff speak English.

The bar has very good prices and throughout the day changes character several times with different atmospheres or ambiences. The chill out, the day zone like a living room and the night zone more like a beer bar. 1 € one beer/ large coffee etc The bar gives the hostel a great atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to meet people with its long wooden tables and the nice chill out areas. If you feel like cooking there is a huge well-equipped kitchen available at no cost.

The hostel is absolutely perfectly located in the historical part of the city on one side of the dry river bed that is the lung of the city. It is 15 minutes walk to the BIOPARC and the same distance to the railway station, the Mestalla stadium and to the City of Arts and Sciences city. It’s even less to the bus station and just 4 minutes on foot to the cathedral.

The River Hostel looks forward to welcoming you to Valencia very soon. To book at the guaranteed lowest rates with no agency commissions click here.
