Cádiz, in the south of Spain, is the Oldest City of Western Europe. It was founded by the phoenicians in the 1104 BC with the name of Gadir. Then, the Romans, Arabs and finally Catholics lived here. The 18th century was our Golden age when we built the main monuments and a lot of palaces. In 1812, we defended the city against Napoleon’s army being the only place in Spain where his army couldn’t enter. After that, we signed the first Spanish Constitution which is the third in the world. These are just a few of the facts that you will learn on GuruWalk Cádiz.
Why else should you come here? There are a lot of reasons… It’s a destination where you can enjoy warm weather, beautiful monuments full of history, relaxed walks, fresh and varied gastronomy, great seafood and probably the best sunsets with awesome ocean views.
I love my hometown because you can go to the beach anytime of the year. Besides, it’s a small city so you can go walking to all the places you need to go and, finally, also because of our people, they are friendly and always smiling.
My name is Jesús Carrillo – official tourist guide – and I have my own tour listed in GuruWalk. I invite all of you to take it and have a local and fun experience. From my point of view, GuruWalk is really successful because it’s a fantastic way to meet new people and show your city to its visitors: individual travellers, international tourists, couples, families or small groups. There’s always many different things to do in a city, and GuruWalk allows the visitor to discover all of them while meeting people and having a good time.
My Experience CADIZ LOCAL GUIDE (I’ve got also a Facebook Page) consists on a walking route where you can discover the history of the city through the narrow streets, the wide squares, the wonderful monuments and the legends. You will be visiting Cádiz with a local, so you will receive the best recommendations and tips. Don’t miss it!
