Count Rudi celebrates his 80th Birthday in Style

On the 25th September Count Rudi, the soul of the Marbella Club Hotel and passionate promoter and protector of the city of Marbella, will celebrate his 80th birthday. The great and the good will be travelling from all over the world to celebrate this important day with him and acknowledge his many achievements.
His spectacular two day birthday celebrations includes two dinners and cocktail receptions in the Marbella Club’s Villa del Mar and a Thanksgiving Service in Marbella’s main church Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación to give thanks for his long and full life. This service will include a wonderful performance of baroque music by the Colegium Musicum Orchestra.

An Inspirational Figure in Marbella’s Society

Ever since he moved to Marbella in 1956 to work at the Marbella Club, he has been instrumental in developing the hotel into the first Leading Hotel in Spain and helping to make the town into one of the most desirable tourist destinations in the World. He continues to be a profound influence on the hotel and work tirelessly to promote Marbella to this day. “I view myself as an Andalucian with a German passport and am very proud to be part of this community. I am strongly linked to the Old Town and the Town Hall. I was honored to be elected as a Town Councilor and work alongside the Town Hall to help Marbella prosper in any way I can. I am incredibly proud that the town has dedicated a street to me and that they have made my wife an honorary citizen of Marbella. I hope to follow in her footsteps when I turn 80 this year.”

At 80 he remains young at heart and full of energy and charm and has no plans to stop working “I work because I love to work and it makes me feel eternally young. I hope I can still do it for a long time! Every day I wake up at 7am, walk into town to get some exercise and then start work. As long as I can continue to be useful to the Marbella Club and Marbella as a town I will keep working.”

Creating an Iconic Hotel

The Marbella Club Hotel Golf Resort and Spa has benefitted greatly from Count Rudi’s dedication to delighting customers and his understanding of what travelers want from a luxury hotel.
From its humble beginnings as a family finca in the 1950s it has been developed into a hotel famous for its lush tropical gardens, Andalucian inspired accommodation and great facilities such as heated pools, a choice of nine bars and restaurants, a Thalasso Spa, Kids’ Club and 18 hole golf course. With his guiding hand the hotel has become an icon which is frequented by celebrities, business people and families all looking for a hotel full of charm, history and fantastic facilities.
