2014 – 2015
So, another season starts at La Rosaleda and after yet another Parson’s Egg of a season, there is the annual “high hopes” that the Costa del Sol side will do well. The 2013-2014 season finished with the club in a creditable 11th position BUT the team had struggled and spent much of the year perilously close to the relegation zone. In fact, Osasuna dropped out of La Liga with only six points less than Málaga.
The club has a new manager (Javier ‘Javi’ Gracia Carlos) who got promoted with Almería but relegated with Osasuna whilst Bernd Schuster moves out after tense relationships with the owners. There are a huge numbers of comings and goings in the squad with Willy Caballero the biggest loss. After a great season, he signed for Manchester City in a move that seemed to suit all parties …..and particularly his bank-manager! His replacement is Guillermo Ochoa who was one of the stars of the World Cup in Brazil with the Mexican team. He signed from Ajaccio in the French league.
