On Tuesday, 2nd October, over 100 Costa Women got together in Nueva Andalucia’s celebrity hang-out, Guey Restaurant and Sky Bar for their 4th monthly meeting in the Marbella area.
This month’s event was dedicated to personal development and also to a great cause – to raise as much as possible for one of the families that was badly affected by the Malaga fires. Sue Doran and her family’s house, built by her husband, burnt down to the ground, together with their entire belongings and even their car. Tragically, the fire destroyed Pete Doran’s trade tools, meaning he was unable to return to his self-employed business as a builder.
Costa Women organised a raffle and an auction with 24 great prizes that were donated by many generous sponsors. €530 in total was raised on the night, which the very next morning, were converted into Leroy Merlin vouchers for the Doran family.
Being able to purchase tools and materials with these vouchers provides the family with the opportunity to start rebuilding their future and Pete has also volunteered his building expertise and hands to help other victims with their repairs. The Tools Appeal is still collecting donations – please contact Marina Nitzak via Costa Women if you would like to donate any spare tools or DIY store vouchers or gift cards for the Doran family.
Costa Women events are free to attend and the next monthly Marbella meeting will be back at Guey´s Sky Bar on Tuesday 6th November at 19.30h. There are also monthly events held in Sotogrande, Calahonda and East of Málaga.
