Habaneras Festival
The mayor of Torrevieja and president of the Board of Habaneras, Eduardo Dolon Sanchez, closed last week’s 57th International Contest of Habanera and Polyphony of Torrevieja, while announcing the 58th edition of the contest, to be held from 23 to 29 July 2012, at the historic Eras de la Sal. Prior to the closing ceremony a full house was entertained by the Ricardo Lafuente Orchestra and Choir – Salinas de Torrevieja, led by Manuel Martínez Guirao, Mass. Coral Jose Hódar Torrevieja, led by Miguel Guerrero, the choir Manuel Barberá, Sergey Larkin, Maestro Casanovas Choir, directed by Sabina Martínez Boj, Francisco Vallejos Choir, directed by Anibal Cano and Municipal Choir “Ricardo Lafuente” hosted by Mario Bustillo.
All of the groups performed programs featuring popular Habaneras followed by presenter Carolina Casado’s farewell, saying “your heart, as the letter of the required Habana , has become Torrevieja. ” before giving the floor to Vice President of the Municipal Board of the Show, Luis Maria Pizana, who announced the award of the gold shield of the 57 edition of the competition the former mayor Pedro Hernandez Mateo, for his hard work during the last 23 years of the competition.
Eduardo Dolon Sanchez, congratulated the organisers of the contest, as well as the award-winning choirs. Torrevieja The mayor said “the contest will change much in coming years with the new targets we have set.” The mayor announced the 58th edition of the competition to be held next year from 23 to 29 July, 2012. The evening concluded with the ever-stirring rendition of the hymns to Torrevieja, Valencia, Spain, led by Ricardo Lafuente Municipal Choir and band Torrevejense Musical Union, along with the personal greeting by the mayor and the vice president of the board to all members of the organization, interpreted, informally finished the night, sailor’s waltz “Swallow of love.”
