Autumn Cultural Programme
Even with one of the lowest budgets in recent years, the program has great variety including classics such as the Fiestas de Santa Cecilia, the IV Memorial to Ricardo Lafuente on 4 and 5 November, the International Competition of Bands of the UMT on 10 December and, of course, many events related to the Festivities in Honour of the Immaculate Conception. On Saturday October 29th in the Teatro Municipal “The Music of Your Life” will be performed. This has proved to be a great success around Spain and is primarily a show of ’80s inspired songs. Tickets are a crisis busting €12 for the early evening and €15 for the late show. It features 16 artists, live music and although the show is presented in Spanish, it’s guaranteed you’ll recognise many of the tunes.
On November 12, there is a benefit night for ADIEM, at the Teatro Municipal featuring Dani Rovira. Local singer Quique Montes, will give a concert called “Cenicienta a la Luna” (“Cinderella to the Moon”), on 28 October, in the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre. In addition, there will be many shows aimed at children, such as La Gala de la Ilusión de la Sal de Torrevieja, on 13 November. This autumn’s program also features a number of excellent International performances, which stared last Saturday with the renowned singer and impressionist, Joe Longthorne. One big surprise package is the former guitarist of the legendary ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) David Scott-Morgan, Cor Meibion Taf with the musical ‘Fiddler On the Roof’ and the ‘Cantabile Singers’ in concert, to name but a few. Unfortunately, one of the highlights, the Sound of the Supremes, has just been cancelled but ‘Night On The Town Promotions’ will be looking to add more International acts for Winter 2012. Pick up your copy of ‘Autumn 2011 and enjoy days and nights on the town.
