Last Saturday 27th June, at 8.30 pm, we had our last game of the season 2014-2015

We played Torquay under 18s from England. Referee was Joe Pheelan from Ireland

La Vila under 18´s boys played very well, very enthusiastic, but the English boys were stronger ad fitter.

The club organised a barbecue after the game. Both teams enjoyed very much. The weather was fantastic

Before the game, from 11 am until 6 pm, 20 persons attended the Rugby Coaching Clinic organised at our Club.

Mark Hewitt, former La Vila coach and actual academy director Worcester Warriors from England, was the director, helped with La Vila actual coach Hernan Quirelli.

The experience was very successful. Rugby La Vila wants to organise these clinics every two months. Spanish coaches needs a lot of knowledge

Rugby beach campaign keep going every Tuesday and Thursday from 6.30 pm until 8,30 pm at Villajoyosa main beach, near Club Naútico, everybody is welcome to play touch beach rugby (not tackles) open for any age. Just pop there, play beach rugby and have a swim afterwards

Next Saturday 27th June, a rugby coaching course will be organised at our Club. Mark Hewitt, current academy director Worcester Warriors from England. He will direct the coaching course, helped by the current La Vila coach Hernan Quirelli. Coaching course will be bilingual, English and Spanish. Clinic will start at 11 am, finish at 6 pm. Price will be 15 euros per person. Lunch included on the price

Sunday 7th June, our women’s team had a 15 a side game versus Chipping Sudbury Ladies from England. It was a fantastic day. Not only the rugby, unexpectedly won by La Vila, but the after match celebrations included fancy dress party was gorgeous.

Each year Villajoyosa (La Vila) hosts in late May, an Annual International Rugby Seven a Side Tournament, (Benidorm Rugby Sevens), being played at New Villajoyosa Rugby Stadium.

This year was the 29th year running of the event, and as usual the tournament was held over two days

Russia National team triumph at 29th International Benidorm Rugby Sevens played at Villajoyosa

La Vila Rugby Club´s new Stadium at Carretera del Pantano (Villajoyosa) provided the prefect setting on May 23 and 24 for the 29th Rugby Sevens Benidorm , staged and hosted by La Vila Rugby Club

The Villajoyosa based club were rewarded by a large attendance of rugby fans from far and wide who appreciated the quality of rugby provided by the 16 teams who took part in this increasingly popular tournament.

It´s an event now widely regarded as the premier Rugby 7s tournament in Spain.

La Vila Club supported by an army of helpers who toil away each week building and strengthening the club to its present high status in Spanish Rugby and beyond

As for the tournament itself there were 16 teams represented, mainly from Russia, Scotland, England, France, Kazakhstan, Chile, Denmark, Andorra, Belgium and Spain

Of the International section teams playing on Saturday, Russia, Chile, Hawick Scotland, Impact 7s France, Bite bandits England, Bearnaise France and La Vila Spain, all displayed good from to move into the next stage of their Gold Cup Competition

As a result of these games, Russia National Selection, Impact 7s Chile National selection and Bite Bandits competed for a place in the International Cup Final

These matches resulted in Russia v Impacts 7s won by Russia 39-14 and Chile v Bandits, won by Chile for 36-0

As a result, the spectators, were rewarded with the Gold Cup Final clash between Russia and the Chile national teams, the two best teams in the whole tournament

The moment that many of the spectators had awaited, arrived when Russia and Chile took the field, in the final of the International section

A real battle had been expected between two specialists in the art of 7s rugby, but in a brilliant display, Russia beat Chile by 36-5. 1.500 euros prize money for the winners. 700 euros for the runners up

It was a view no doubt shared by many of those privileged to have been at the La Vila Rugby Stadium last weekend

The women’s international section was won by Denmark National team versus Sevilla University by 40-0

Next international event will be Sunday 7th June at Villajoyosa Stadium, from 11 am to 3 pm, 4 teams womens sevens, Sudbury Ladies form England, La Vila, Alicante and Valencia ladies. Free entrance. Bar will be open.

Past Saturday 9th May, we host at our club, first leg Alicante Sevens Series for Under 16 and Under 18. Three teams competed Alicante Rugby. Akra and La Vila. Good results for our under 16s and under 18s, they won all games. Now waiting for second leg, next 23rd May

We played some senior sevens versus Swanage & Wareham sevens team.

Next Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May, from 9 am until 3 pm, at Villajoyosa Stadium and Alfaz del Pi Polideportivo, Official Spanish Championship Finals for under 16 clubs. 33 Spanish clubs from all over Spain will compete. Don’t miss out. Free entrance both venues

Past Saturday we had another enjoyable day of rugby.

Mountain Ash Youth team from Wales, plus Burgess Hill from England and La Vila. We play togethetr some social rugby from 4 pm until 6 pm. After we inaugurated our Sky sport connection and we watched European Rugby Cup Final between Toulon and Clermont. Exciting game. Toulon won

The day finalised with and splendid Argentinian barbecue. Everybody really enjoyed

Next Saturday 9th May more rugby at Villajoyosa. From 11 am until 3 pm Alicante Sevens start from under 18, under 16 and womens’. From 4 pm until 8 pm Senior Sevens will take place. Teams from Alicante, Valencia and Murcia, plus one touring side from UK, Swanage and Wareham. Free entrance. Come and enjoy rugby sevens

Past Saturday 25th April, second leg Alicante Cup for under 18 and under 16, Three teams competed Alicante Rugby. Akra and La Vila. Our Under 16 won the Cup for 23-27, an exciting final against Alicante Rugby.

La Vila Under18 lost the final aginst a superb Akra. They beat us 47-17

Also past Saturday we had two friendly games versus UK teams

At 5.00 pm La Vila seconds played against Kingswood, we won 32-16. Strong team for La Vila despite result

At 6.30 pm La Vila veterans played against Rhyl from Wales. Our veterans played rugby after two years without it. They played very well, they beat Rhyl 22-10. I think they need another two years to recover

The Club will have plenty activity next Saturday 2nd May at 3 pm three teams, Mountain Ash from Wales, Burgess Hill from England and La Vila will play short games 20 minutes each half.

At 6 pm we will watch at our full screen tv, European Cup Final betwen Tourlon and Clermont

At 8 pm we will organise an Argentinian barbecue for all of them. If you want to join phone club. Ticket will be 10 euros

Past Saturday 11th April, we had our first ever Mini Rugby Festival, for under 12-10-8. We hosted Canoe Madrid, Industriales Madrid, La Torre Murcia, Alzira, Javea and La Vila

From 11 am until 5 pm, they were playing rugby. Everybody enjoyed our big paella for lunch at 2 pm. Sunday morning they had rugby at the beach.

It was a big success. Next season we will repeat

At 6 pm our second side played against Guildford Vets. It was an excellent game of rugby, La Vila won, we had younger players

We are preparing our 29th International Benidorm Sevens for next 23 24 May 2015, being played at New Villajoyosa

No luck for Rugby La Vila first team. We won our important game at Valencia against Les Abelles for 12-19, but no bonus point

The other team involved, Cau Valencia, won against San Cugat and they scored 4 tries, bonus point. They are classified for play offs to promote Spanish top 12.

We have to say thanks to all our players. They did their best. We had a very enjoyable season. Next year will be better. Now touring sides and sevens season start

Next Saturday 11th April, we will play at 6 pm against Guildford RFC from England, free entrance, bar will be open

This past Sunday 15th March, our first team had a very important game at home. We played against Zaragoza Fenix

We expected stronger opposition but we won 68-3

The crowd were very happy with our convincing victory. We are now second in the league. Only 5 points’ difference from the first-placed team.

The victory was celebrated with a few cold beers and a fantastic paella

No xv a side rugby games past weekend for our first team.

We played some seven rugby against Kazajistan team, they are training at our ground until 22nd March. It is warmer here than their country, 15 degrees below zero

Also we had Tunisia Women’s Sevens National team, they were playing against Kazajistan women’s sevens team. Tunisia women they were travelling to Madrid to play against Spain and Germany women, to prepare next international sevens. They had to play versus South Africa women to qualify for next Olympics

The Mayor of Villajoyosa, Jaime Llloret visit Tunisia women’s team and welcome them at Hotel Allon Villajoyosa.

Our women’s team played on Sunday morning against Catholic University from Valencia. Very close game, we were near to win 17-19

Next Saturday fom 11.00 am to 2 pm, we will have some more sevens at our stadium. Israel National Team, plus Kazajistan men, plus Aberdare from Wales, will play some sevens. At 2.00 pm we will organise a meal for all of them, at our club house and hope to watch VI nations game at our new TV screen,

Saturday at 6 pm our women’s team will play against Alicante University and

Saturday at 8 pm our second team will play against Segorbe Castellón

No rugby games past weekend for our first team. Spain was playing Georgia at Madrid for the European Cup Games.

Our mini rugby section travelled to Requena to play our regional tournaments against Requena, Tatami Valencia and Cullera. Plenty of games. Good promotion day for Requena Rugby

Our under 18 travelled to Gandia to play against La Safor Under 18. Strong side we lost 32-17

Our women’s team travelled past Sunday to Murcia, to play against new team from Torre de Cutillas, convincing win for 34-12. A fantastic Argentinian barbecue was organised after the game, thanks to our hosts.

Next Saturday from 4.00 to 6.00 pm pm Tunisia Women’s Sevens team and Kazajistan women’s sevens will play some friendly games at our Stadium. Free entrance, Bar will be open.

This past Saturday 14th Februry, our first team had a very important game away against San Cugat Barcelona. I’m afraid to tell you but we lost 19-13. Only one bonus point for Rugby La Vila.

The team did not play very well, plenty of mistakes. We had many balls. We won every scrum, line out and the rucks, but our three quarters did not have their best day.

I’m afraid past weekend no rugby games at all 1st February

The new Valencia and Alicante Rugby Union cancelled all competitions, from under 6 to senior level, due to heavy winds.

It was only possible to organise a friendly game Saturday at 5.30 pm, our second team played against Akra Alicante seconds. Our team won 32-18. Good practice for both teams, ref mr Joe Pheelan

Next weekend, again no games at home. Our women’s team will play Sunday morning at Valencia, Cuatro Carreres Rugby Pitches

Next home game for the first team will Sunday 22nd February at 12.30 against Barcelona Buc. Another important game for La Vila if they want to keep top of the table and classified for final play off. Don’t miss out

This past Sunday January 25th , our first team had a very important game away. We played against Tecnidex Valencia.
A very important game.

We won 25-13. I was a very exciting game. La Vila were looking for the fourth try in order to have one more bonus point. But no luck

Our supporters who travelled to Valencia were very happy with our convincing victory. We are now top of the table

This past Sunday January 18th, our first team had a very important game at home. We played against Cau Valencia. A very important game. We won 22-5. I was a very exciting game. Both teams played very well, but at the end La Vila scored 3 tries, against only one from the Valencian team

The victory was celebrated with a few cold beers and a fantastic Paella. We had a sunny day. Everything was perfect

This past Saturday, 10 January, our first team travelled to Barcelona to play against Sitges RC.

We won the game 35-25, against a team with more than 11 new Argentinian players

We came away with an away win plus bonus point and 5 more points on the board, which keeps us in
first place in the table.

Next Sunday 18th January we have a very important game for our first team. We play against local rivals Cau Valencia at 12.30. They are seconds of the table. We need the victory to keep on the top of the table and access to final play off to be promoted back to Spanish Top-12 league (Division de Honor). We need your support

This past Sunday (21st December), our first team had a very important game at home. We played against Barcelona Engineers. We expected a stronger opposition, but we won 60-0

The crowd were very happy with our convincing victory. We are now top of the table. % points difference from the second place team.

The victory was celebrated with a few cold beers and a fantastic fish and seafood fried nibbles laid on for us by the Cofradia de Pescadores Villajoyosa (the fisheries comission)

Before the game, The stadium was “bendited” by Villajoyosa priest, part of Christmas celebrations

No games for Christmas.

First home game for the first team will be Sunday 18th January at 12.30. Against CAU Valencia, seconds at the table. Crucial game. The winner will obtain a quite sure spot for the play offs.

Past Saturday, December 13, our first team had a very important game away. We played against Hospitalet from Barcelona

We expected a stronger oposition, but we won 25-0

We miss some players for injurys, like Paco Martinez captain, Hernan Quirelli, and Gaston de la Cruz

New signs for La Vila, english player Matthew Surman, he play prop, an important position for the scrum

Now we are now top of the table. We hope to maintain position until the end of competition

Womens team won 43-12 against Elche, away

Second team lost closely 27-24 against Safor Gandia, away game

Under 18 lost 23-22 agisnt Elche, away game

Under 16 won 57-0, at home aginst Montcada Valencia. Two new english players for the team

Under 12´s , Under 10´s and Under 8´s travelled to Tabernes for a mini rugby festival, the had plenty of rugby the three teams

This past Sunday, our first team had a very important game at home. We played against old rivales Les Abelles

We expected a stronger oposition, but we won 65-0

The crowd were very happy with our convincing victory. We are now top of the table

The victory was celebrated with a few cold beers and a fantastic Argentinian Barbeque organised for the after match lunch. Roast Veal rolls with Creole Sauce.

Next Saturday the first team will travel to Hospitalet (Barcelona) We wish them good luck. The second team will play on Saturday at Gandia, Valencia

The Under 18s, will play Saturday at 12.00 in Alicante. The ladies team will play on Sunday morning at Elche

The only team playing at home will be our Under 16s, they will play at 4.00 pm on Saturday against Montcada

This past Saturday 29 November, our first team travelled to Zaragoza to play againts Fenix RC. We won a hard fought battle in what can only be described as atrocious conditions! 7-0, the final score. The pitch was full of water & mud! And our boys are not used to these conditions, but they stuck it out and came away with an away win and 4 more points on the board, which keeps us in second place on the table.

We had a first win of the season for our Under 18’s! They played away against Elche Rugby Club. They won 38-5

Next Sunday 7th December we have a very important game for our first team. We play against local rivals Les Abelles from Valencia at 12.30. We need the victory to keep on the top of the table and to return them some good karma!

No rugby games for the first and second team past weekend.22/23 October

Past Saturday morning the Under 16 team played at home versus Tatami Valencia. They lost 34-17, Under 18 played also against Akra Alicante, 25-15 for Alicante

Th club has start a new promotion for Under 12, under 10. Saturday morning from 11 to 12.30 Tag rugby (not tackle). First Saturday was a success. 50 boys and girls enjoyed the session

12.00 La Vila seconds team versus Jabalies Palancia. A new team from Castellon. Free entrance

The first team will travel on Saturday to Zaragoza to play Fenix Rugby Club. Strong opposition for Rugby La Vila

The under 18 will travel to Elche to play Elche RC at 12.00 on Saturday

No rugby games for the first team past weekend. (17th October) The players deserved a break.

But second team had a game versus new team from Villena. They won 165-0. Obviously Villena need to learn a lot, but they attitude was very sporting until the end of the game

The women’s team also played last Saturday versus Cau Valencia, we lost 32-14, our women’s teams is improving every week. First win is near

Our Under 16 team played versus Cau Valencia. Good performance against strongest team on the competition but we lost 38-18

More than 150 boys and girls, form under 6 to under 12 years of age were playing rugby past Saturday morning at our club. Plenty of rugby for everybody. We offer them after the games a huge paella. Everybody enjoyed the day

Next Sunday 2nd November at 12.30, a crucial game for Rugby La Vila, we will play against San Cugat Barcelona.

If you remember last season, they beat us at last minute, last game of the season. We did not qualified for play offs to play Spanish top league, for only one point

Well, than means next Sunday we have to beat them, if we want to qualify for next play offs

We guarantee game at high voltage.

Last week results. Our women’s side lost 44-0 at home on Sunday against strong Valencian Ladies

Our second team beat Castellon, 35-17, we play at home last Saturday at 4.30 pm

But more important activity last week, was the first Mini Rugby meeting, Saturday morning at Villajoyosa Rugby Club. More than 150 boys and girls playing all morning. The future of Alicante Rugby was there. fantastic day

Good game for Rugby La Vila (33 – 7) against Valencia Tecnidex, past Sunday 19th October, at 12.30 at Villajoyosa Rugby Stadium

La Vila played very well, players were very committed after two weeks’ ago defeat against CAU Valencia

From initial kick off, the players were on the game, three tries first half. Tries for Noel Carrion, Henry Davies, Hernan Quirelli and Duncan Tout.

Conversion for Juanma Quirante who was outstanding

The only try for Valencia was for Rodrigo Rosso.

Now La Vila keeps first of the competition, followed very close by San Cugat Barcelona and Cau Valencia

Our women team played away against Elche. Good core for the first game. 43-7, brave our girls

The next home game will be in two weeks time, Sunday 2th November at 12.30 at Villajoyosa Stadium. We will play against San Cugat Barcelona. Ticket will be 5 euros for adult. Under 12 free

Next Saturday 25th October from 10 am to 2 pm mini Rugby Festival at our Club. Bring your children, they will be happy to play some rugby, most of the players are new

The second team and under 18 and under 16 will also start`to play next saturday. Time TBC

New Players are welcome. The Club run two senior sides, U18, U16, U14, U12, U10 and U8 teams. Trainings already start.

First league win for Rugby La Vila, past Sunday 14th September, against strong Hospitalet. 29 to 12

Good attendance, despite was very warm. Spectators were comfortable under cover stands, They enjoy new beer. Amstel Beer and Radler Sandy beer

Second league win for Rugby La Vila, past Saturday 20th September, in Barcelona, against strong Barcelona Ingeneers for 14 – 10

It was not an easy win, Barcelona players were superb. Many mistakes from La Vila players. Our kicker Juanma Quirante had the day and he converted 3 from 3 penalty kicks. Duncan Tout, the only English player this season, score the only try for La Vila

Despite La Vila did not play very well. The win is important to keep top at the table. Now the coach Hernan Quirelly has time enough to prepare next Sunday game at home versus Sitges from Barcelona. Sunday 28th September at 12.00 Don’t miss out. Tickets as usual 5 euros, under 18 year free

First touring side will be Waethley Hills, we will play them Sunday 5th October, at 12.30, Free entrance

The second team will start to play Saturday 18th October. Still time to join the club, train and play for second team. They play locally at Alicante level, not long journeys, only local, Denia, Alicante, Elche, Torrevieja. New Players are welcome. Ficha will be 200 euros per season, including insurance and travel expenses

The Club also run womens rugby and U18, U16, U14, U12, U10 and U8 teams. Training already started.
