Barcelona is a popular golfing region and its golf courses are always in high demand. The summer heat in the region tends to be less oppressive, making for more comfortable play during the hottest months, while the weather remains mild enough for year-round golf. Barcelona`s courses derive considerable benefit from the higher rainfall that Southern Spain. Tee times are usually available for visitors to most of Barcelona`s courses, though booking is usually necessary.

The Sant Vicenc de Montalt Golf Club, within 34km of Barcelona, is one of the newest courses in the region. This par-70 layout is quite short at just 5,782 yards, but its demanding, undulating holes allow for use of all the clubs in the bag. Its facilities include a bar and restaurant, driving range and buggy hire. There is also a golf school, catering for individual and group lessons.

The Masia Bach Golf Club, designed by tour professional Jose Maria Olazabal, opened in 1990. It is located at Sant Esteve Sesrovires, within 25km of Barcelona. If offers a 9-hole, par-3 course, along with a full 18-hole layout. A truly demanding and tight course, this par-72, 6,645 yard course will provide a test of character for even the most accomplished players. Accompanying facilities include bar and restaurant, coffee shop, golf shop and driving range. A golf school caters for group lessons.

The St Cugat Golf Club, some 20km from Barcelona, is the oldest course in Catalonia, opened in 1914. It was built by UK workers on the Barcelona-St Cugat railway line and its holes have traditional British names. Though only 5,732 yards long, this well-maintained, tight course, it is ideal for both beginners and experienced players.

The Llavaneres Golf Club Location is situated at Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, El Meresme, some 34km from Barcelona. One of the oldest private clubs in Catalonia, Llavaneres was initially opened as a 9-hole course, in 1945. It has subsequently been extended and new facilities added, resulting in a charming, par-70, 5,531 yard course, ideally suited to high handicappers. Facilities include bar and restaurant, driving range / practice areas and Caddy Master. Golf School tuition is also available.

The Real Club de Golf El Prat was inaugurated in 1954. It was completely rebuilt and relocated in October 2001 to its new home in Terrassa on the outskirts of Barcelona, due to the expansion of Barcelona El Prat airport. The new course(s) comprise 45 holes designed by Greg Norman, set in beautiful, rolling countryside. The North Course is 6,526 yards in length with a par of 70, while the par-70 South Course is slightly longer, at 6,622 yards. Both will provide an excellent test for any golfer. However, visitors are only accepted on request, with a letter of introduction from their home club. There is also a 9-hole public course, driving range, bar / restaurant / coffee bar, buggy hire and a golf school catering for group lessons.

Golf Tuition in Barcelona
Many golf courses in the Barcelona region offer golf tuition to visitors, by way of golf schools run by professional players. Individual lessons require concentration and devotion, but cheaper group lessons can be a fun way of improving golfing skills. Tuition for juniors is available at many courses. Most courses offer a driving range for golfers to practice their newly learned or refreshed golf skills, when not practicing with the professional.
